Joe Foster, a modeler who has provided us with some great ideas, sent one that I have decided to post for others to see and copy. I have also decided to add an extra set of tail root ribs to all the Shrike and Elf kits that ship beginning in January 2005.
Joe used a spare set of tail root ribs to create a saddle for the tails to ride against. This not only looks great but it does a couple of other things.
1. It allows the tails to fit tighter against the tail boom.
2. It helps strengthen the tail boom.
He just slid the plywood ribs over the tail pins and glued them to the tail boom. Then, he used a small amount of Bondo to fill in any gaps between the ribs and the boom. When this is sanded out and painted it looks great.
Thanks Joe for a great suggestion.
