As a service to our customers we have replacement wing rods available for all of our kits. The prices are listed below along with a brief description of the item:
SHRIKE: There are two different wing rods available for this kit. The 1⁄4” carbon wing rod is 12” long. This rod weighs 9 grams (.03 ounces). It may require shortening which can easily be accomplished with a Dremel cut off blade or a Zona saw.
We also have a ¼” solid steel rod made from drill rod. This material has not been annealed and is intentionally left it its’ unhardened state so that it will bend upon hard landings to help minimize any damage to your wing. It’s much easier and less expensive to replace a wing rod than it is a wing. Weight is 72 grams (2.5 ounces)
SHREDDER: Like the Shrike above we offer two different wing rods. A carbon rod that is 5/16th in diameter and 15” long. This rod weighs 13 grams (0.4 ounces).
The 5/16th steel drill rod is also 15” long and weighs 143 grams (5.1 ounces).
The steel rods may be used when a little extra ballast is beneficial.
KA6 AND SCHWEIZER 2-32: Both kits utilize a 12” long x 1⁄2 T6 aluminum wing rod.
Shipping costs will depend upon how many wing rods you order. You could probably ship up to 4 carbon rods for $4.00 but due to the higher weight of the steel rods the cost will be higher. I can advise actual costs once I know how many rods you wish to order.
